APPLESOX LOOKING FOR SWEEP
The Wenatchee AppleSox (13-14, 10-13), fourth place in the WCL East, continue their six-game homestand against the Klamath Falls Gems (5-18, 5-18), after securing a series win with a 4-0 win last night...it was the AppleSox third shutout of the season...the AppleSox are playing their 16th franchise season (11th in the WCL) and are led by first-year skipper, AJ Proszek (13-14) (.481), who is in his 3rd season with the Sox, after managing the pitching staff in 2013 and 2014...Proszek is assisted by Miles Kizer and Cory LeBrun, both in their first seasons.

LAST NIGHT
Hunter Wells paced the AppleSox with eight shutout innings, on the Fourth of July...with the eight innings, and four runs of support, Wells earned his fourth win of the year - tied for the WCL lead with Patrick McGuff of Bend...his ERA is now down to 1.11, and Sunday’s game was his second eight-inning appearance for the AppleSox (no decision June 10 at Walla Walla)...the AppleSox scoring came from four separate hitters, in four separate innings...Holland, Hiura, Jansen, and Douglas all had RBI in the game...Holland, Douglas, and Hiura are the top three RBI men for the AppleSox (in that order)...Jansen is tied for fourth...Sean Sparling worked the final inning out of the ‘pen and Danny Amaral made arguably the best catch of the WCL season to rob Ty Wyatt of extra-bases in the ninth.

HOME/AWAY HITTING
The AppleSox have six active players hitting .300 or better at home this season (Vanderkin, Liikala, Holland, Nyquist, Janseen (Amaral), as opposed to just two over .300 on the road (Liikala, Holland).

GEMS STRUGGLING
The Klamath Falls Gems enter play, Friday, with the worst record in the WCL...hoever, two of the Gems’ five wins on the season came against the league’s juggernaut, Bend...the Gems are hitting  a league-low .218 and alowing a league-high 5.99 ERA.

APPLESOX ALL-TIME
