WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Wenatchee AppleSox erased an early 4-0 deficit to win Friday night’s non-league game 8-5 over the River City Athletics, Friday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

The Athletics scored their four runs off of Steen Fredrickson in the first inning. RBI singles for Bryce Beck and Tyler Detloff got it started, and McKlane Elgin drove in two with his single.

Wenatchee answered back with two runs in its half of the first from Alex Gonzales. He doubled to cut the deficit to 4-2.

River City could only get one more run in the fourth inning on a passed ball.

Josh Zamora homered off of Easton Henke, the Athletics starter, to open the third inning. It cut the Athletic’s lead to 4-3, and was Zamora’s second home run of the non-league season.

Wenatchee tied the game on an error in the fourth, with Jordan Prendiz scoring on a Zamora single. It was the second of three hits for Zamora on the night.

In the fifth, Wenatchee took the lead for good with a three-run frame. They chased Henke with the bases loaded. The reliever, Trent Sellers, hit a man and walked a pair of batters for a 7-5 AppleSox lead.

Sellers recovered to throw a quality four innings of relief, only giving up one other run in the seventh inning on an infield single, that allowed a runner to grab an extra base from third, to score.

Michael Spellacy covered for Wenatchee with two scoreless innings of relief. Jalen Garcia pitched the final two innings to pick up a save.

The AppleSox play River City again Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. It is Fireworks Night presented by Numerica Credit Union. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m.
