APPLESOX DROP SECOND GAME OF SERIES VS BELLS
/BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Despite a stellar pitching performance from Curtis Bafus, the Wenatchee AppleSox fell to the Bellingham Bells, 2-0, in a tight game on Saturday night at Joe Martin Field.
Bafus matched a season-high with nine strikeouts and tossed six scoreless innings before allowing a couple runs with one out in the seventh inning. Unfortunately for Bafus and the AppleSox, it was his second straight start in which he went six innings and allowed only one earned run, but suffered the loss.
In a game in which the two teams combined for 10 hits, the Bells got half of theirs in the seventh. After a single, an error and a fielder's choice, back-to-back RBI singles to left field gave the Bells the only runs that they needed and would get in Saturday's win.
The Sox will try to salvage the series on Saturday when they face the Bells for the final time at 3:05. It's the final game for both teams before the All-Star Break.
