Sox Shut Out CCL Showcase
/WENATCHEE, WA - Brett Garcia struck out 12 batters in five shutout innings and the AppleSox defeated the Cascade Collegiate League Showcase, 13-0, on Wednesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.
Garcia, making his first start in league or non-league action, set the AppleSox’ 2019 record for most strikeouts in a start. He struck out at least two in every inning and struck out the side in the first and fourth innings.
Peter Sanchez also struck out two in two scoreless innings and Ryan Altenberger and Kodie Kolden both tossed scoreless frames with Altenberger striking out one and Kolden punching out the side in the ninth.
Offensively, the Sox only lead 1-0 after three innings, but scored their 12 other runs in the fourth through seventh innings. The AppleSox’ best inning was a six-run seventh inning.
The Sox resume West Coast League play on Friday when they host the Yakima Valley Pippins at 6:35
