Mercado Strong Again But Sox Fall to Sweets
/Logan Mercado only allowed two runs and struck out seven in six innings but the Wenatchee AppleSox lost to the Walla Walla Sweets, 8-2, on Wednesday night at Borleske Stadium.
Mercado tossed a season-high 99 pitches for an AppleSox pitcher and finished one off his season-best for strikeouts but the AppleSox could not get him a third straight victory.
Michael O’Hara brought in the AppleSox’ two runs with an RBI double in the sixth inning with one out to tie but he was stranded. The Sweets scored three in the seventh and three more in the eighth to pick up the win.
Luc Stuka singled and doubled to record his second consecutive multi-hit game and his eighth this summer.
Now, the AppleSox look to take this series as well as the season series when they face the Sweets on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m.
