Kuykendall Shuts Door On AppleSox
/Former AppleSix right-hander Seth Kuykendall only allowed one run in eight innings and the Yakima Valley Pippins defeated the AppleSox, 5-1, on Sunday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.
Kuykendall, who earned West Coast League Honorable Mention honors in 2019 with Wenatchee, struck out five in a season-high eight innings before another former AppleSox righty, Landon Schirer, pitched a scoreless ninth.
Wenatchee’s only run came on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Wyeth in the second inning.
Yakima Valley scored one in the first inning before plating two in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
The AppleSox are off on Monday before heading to Bend to take on the Elks for the first of a three-game set beginning at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday at Vince Genna Stadium.
