Wenatchee Falls in Series Decider to Bend
/The AppleSox lost the series tonight in Bend by a score of 21-4. The loss gave Bend the series win over Wenatchee on Wednesday night at Vince Genna Stadium.
Early on, first baseman Zach Toglia gave the AppleSox the first run of the game on an single to drive in Enzo Apodaca in the top of the first. Toglia, who will join Utah this fall, has eleven runs batted in over just 15 games. But he wasn’t alone as designated hitter A.J. Guerrero clocked a 417-foot home run out to left center field to tie Tino Bethancourt for the longest home run of the season in the top of fourth. Finally, left fielder Aidan Selfridge clocked a two-run double into the right field corner in the top of the sixth to extend his hitting streak to four games in a row.
Unfortunately, Bend scored five runs in the first, three in the third, four in the fifth and then nine in the seventh to take home the win.
Tomorrow night at 6:35, Wenatchee will try to salvage the series in Vince Genna Stadium as they battle Bend one more time this summer.
