AppleSox Even Up Series vs Pippins
/Two big swings of the bat gave the Wenatchee AppleSox a 5-4 win over the Yakima Valley Pippins on Wednesday night at Yakima County Stadium.
Collin Villegas cleared the bases with a two-out 3-RBI double in the second and Garrett Cutting plated a pair with a two-run triple the next inning.
Villegas has now recorded all of his 9 RBI this season in the last six games. Cutting picked up his fourth triple of the summer, all of which have come in the last six games. He is now two triples away from tying Keston Hiura’s franchise record of six in 2015.
Cole Hatton (2-2) struck out five over five innings in his final appearance of the summer. Skylar Hales followed with three strikeouts in three innings before Chase Grillo tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up his fifth save of the summer. Grillo is tied for third in the West Coast League in saves and is one off being tied for the lead.
The AppleSox wrap up their season on Thursday night when they face the Pippins at 7:05. Jack Lee gets the start in the final game of the 2021 summer.
