Big Second Inning Pushes Bells Past AppleSox

The AppleSox dropped Wednesday night’s mid-week game to the Bellingham Bells, 4-1, on Wednesday night at Joe Martin Field.

Grant Sherrod collected two hits, including an RBI single in the sixth inning, but the AppleSox lost the weekday series after also falling 7-0 on Tuesday.

Michael Davinni doubled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. He is batting .391 through the season’s first 11 games.

Bellingham scored all four of its runs in the second inning on a sacrifice fly and a three-run home run. Quincy Vassar (0-1) recovered from a tough inning to shut out the Bells over the next four innings and Ryan Arredondo also tossed two scoreless innings, but the AppleSox bats could not provide enough run support.

Wenatchee looks to get the bats going on Thursday in the series finale as they attempt to salvage the three-game series against the Bells. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. at Joe Martin Field and Ryan Mullan will make his second start of the summer for the AppleSox.
