AppleSox Add Six Players From Midwest Schools

Head coach Mitch Darlington announced on Wednesday the addition of six players from midwest schools to the AppleSox’ 2025 roster. Jack Barker, Easton Brooks, Reid Graham, Mitch Haythorn, Jackson Lapiner and Quincy Malbrough are signed to join this season’s team. This week’s roster additions come from Colorado Mesa, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma and Purdue.

Barker is a sophomore at the College of Southern Idaho who is committed to play at Colorado Mesa next year. He batted .372 with 11 extra-base hits and 24 RBI in 36 games as a freshman. Barked recorded eight multi-hit games and reached base safely in all but 13 games. He is hitting an eye-popping .500 through 46 games with 21 doubles, seven triples, four home runs and 52 RBI. 

Brooks is a redshirt freshman at Utah Tech who has a 5.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and six walks over nine innings in 10 appearances this spring. He opened the season by not allowing an earned run in seven of his first eight games. The Herriman, Utah native graduated from Mountain Ridge High School in 2023. 

Graham is a corner infielder in his freshman season at Oklahoma who has not appeared in any games yet this spring. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 2024 after two seasons as a letterwinner. Graham was a Perfect Game 18U North Texas champion with the Stix Baseball Club and provides a big frame at first base at 6-foot-6.

Haythorn is a freshman right-handed pitcher at Oklahoma. He graduated from Eaton High School in 2024 after being ranked as the sixth-best player and fourth-best pitcher in Colorado by Perfect Game. Haythorn hit .359 in four years of varsity while posting a 1.97 ERA with a perfect 30-0 record while punching out in 316 in 160 innings. 

Lapiner is a utilityman at Colorado Mesa who is a left-handed hitting outfielder and a right-handed pitcher. He has only allowed one earned run over seven innings in two appearances on the mound while striking out seven and walking four. He has previously attended Yavapai College, Los Angeles Valley College and Golden West College.

The Sherman Oaks, Calif. native previously played summer baseball with the Walla Walla Sweets in 2021 and the Conejo Oaks of the California Collegiate League in 2022. Lapiner graduated from Calabasas High School in May 2020.

Malbrough is a sophomore outfielder at Folsom Lake College who is committed to head to Purdue this fall. He hit .359 as a freshman with six doubles, six home runs and 41 RBI in 43 games. Malbrough is again in the midst of putting up a huge season, batting .305 with seven doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI in 33 games. 

The Loomis, Calif. native hit .279 with 8 RBI and five stolen bases in 13 games for the Lincoln Potters of the Pacific Empire League last summer. Marlborough graduated from Del Oro High School in 2023.

Platner is a junior left-handed pitcher in his first year at Northern Colorado after spending two seasons at Lower Columbia. He was part of the 2023 NWAC Champions, not allowing any runs in 7.1 innings over five outings, before posting a 2.19 ERA with 26 strikeouts and eight walks over 24.2 innings in 11 relief appearances last season. 

The AppleSox open up their 25th season May 30 when they face the Yakima Valley Pippins at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. The 2025 season consists of 30 home games and concludes in mid-August.
