AppleSox Wrap Up Homestand Against NW Star Academy
/The Wenatchee AppleSox wrap up their first homestand of the summer tonight as they face the Northwest Star Academy Nighthawks at 6:35 p.m. at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.
This is Wenatchee’s first-of-four non-league games this summer, all of which will be at home. The AppleSox went 7-2 in non-league games last season, including winning each of their final seven. Wenatchee is 9-4 against the Northwest Star Academy but split last season’s four-game series. The Nighthawks spoiled the AppleSox’ first two games of the 2022 season by defeating Wenatchee 8-3 and 7-6 June 1 -2, 2021. The AppleSox bounced back by taking the final two games against the Northwest Star Academy on July 30-31 by scores of 15-4 and 5-3.

The AppleSox enter tonight’s non-league game rolling with wins in five-of-their-last-six, all at home. Wenatchee took two-of-three from the Port Angeles Lefties to begin the homestand and then swept the Springfield Drifters this past weekend.
The AppleSox are raking at the plate to begin the season. Their .312 batting average (tied first), 99 hits (second), 74 runs scored (third) and 134 total bases (fourth) all rank among the top five in the West Coast League. Joichiro Oyama’s .463 batting average leads all WCL players with at least nine games played.
