AppleSox Take On CCL Showcase Team In Non-League Action Tonight
/The Wenatchee AppleSox return home to play their final non-league game of the 2022 season tonight at 6:35 at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.
It’s a quick pit stop for the AppleSox in between two road trips. Wenatchee just got back from taking two-of-three from the Kamloops NorthPaws north of the border and will head to Yakima tomorrow for the start of a three-game set against the Pippins.
The AppleSox are tied for first in the North Division in the second half with the Edmonton Riverhawks. Both have identical 12-9 records but the AppleSox would win the tiebreaker because they won two-of-three games against the Riverhawks in the season series. Edmonton has the third-best record overall in the North Division and would thus claim the first wild card spot, if the season ended today, so they would still face the AppleSox in a best-of-three North Division Series Semifinals.
This is the sixth all-time meeting between the AppleSox and the CCL Showcase team. The AppleSox took a pair of meetings in 2018 before sweeping a three-game weekend set a year ago. The CCL was founded in 2018 and just wrapped up its 2022 season this past weekend.
The AppleSox are 2-1 in non-league games this summer. Their only loss came on June 13 to the Northwest Star Academy before following it up with a two-game sweep of the DubSea Fish Sticks, July 12-13.
This evening’s game is being sponsored by Worx Gym and tickets can still be purchased at saferseating.com. Fans who arrive early will receive AppleSox baseball cards of Corey Jarrell, Garrett Gores and Grant Sherrod.
