Bells Quiet AppleSox Bats In Series Opener

Jack DeDonato only allowed one unearned run over six innings but the Wenatchee AppleSox fell to the Bellingham Bells, 6-1, on Tuesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

DeDonato struck out four, walked two and only surrendered three hits but Wenatchee (7-3) stranded nine men despite drawing nine walks.

Bellingham (6-4) scored five runs over the final three innings to take the lead and add plenty of insurance. Three of the AppleSox’ four errors also came in that span. The Bells scored the game’s first run in the second inning and then took the lead for good in the seventh.

Wenatchee scored its only run in the fifth inning when Hunter Friedberg and Max Clark reached on a walk and single, respectively, before being sacrificed over and scoring on a groundout by Max Hartman.

The AppleSox face the Bells again at 6:35 on Wednesday night. Garrett Ahern gets the start in his first game of the season after concluding his freshman year at Grand Canyon.

Game sponsor AG Supply is giving away a Traeger Pro 780 WiFi grill for free as part of the WINatchee Wednesday promotion. Fans can win free prizes from local businesses just by attending the game. Other prizes include Sun Basin movie vouchers, Jet Pro Auto Wash gift cards and Big 5 Sporting Goods gifts cards. Tickets are available at applesox.com/schedule.
