GAME NOTES

Wenatchee Probable Pitcher: Garrett Ahern makes his summer debut after completing his freshman year at Grand Canyon University… Ahern recorded a 5.64 ERA with 15 strikeouts, 29 hits and 11 walks over 22.1 innings in 11 games (one start) this spring… He last pitched on June 2 against West Virginia in the NCAA Regional at Tucson as he gave up three runs on five hits, a walk and a strikeout...

Bellingham Probable Pitcher: Caleb Cassie makes his second start of the summer as he looks to bounce back after suffering the loss in his first outing... The right-hander from Queens College allowed four runs on four hits all in the third inning last Wednesday at Kamloops... He posted a 5.16 ERA with 71 strikeouts, 24 walks and 75 hits over 61 innings in 12 games (11 starts) this spring...

Last Night: The AppleSox were held to a season-low three hits... Wenatchee entered last night with the top batting average in the West Coast League and the third-most runs scored... Jack DeDonato allowed one unearned run and struck out four over six innings... He recorded the fifth start by an AppleSox pitcher of at least five innings this summer and Wenatchee has won three of those games...

Errors: Wenatchee committed four errors last night with three of them coming over the final three innings... The AppleSox 20 errors are tied with the Bend Elks for the most in the WCL and last night was the third time that they have committed three-or-more errors in a game...

Hartman Returns To Leadoff: Max Hartman hit leadoff last night for a team-leading sixth time but for the first time since June 5... Aidan Dougherty hit leadoff in the four games in between... Both players have been better in the leadoff spot as Hartman has a 1.125 on base plus slugging percentage (OPS) when batting first compared to a .581 OPs batting second while Dougherty has a .754 OPS when leading off compared to a .425 OPS in the two-hole...

Final Three Innings: After only allowing 10 runs over the final three innings in the first nine games of the season the AppleSox surrendered five runs from the seventh to ninth innings last night... All four AppleSox pitchers allowed a run but only two runs were earned...

Coming For the Record: With four strikeouts against Victoria on Sunday Quincy Vassar moved into sole possession of the second-most strikeouts in AppleSox history with 93 over the last three summers... Evan Canfield has 14 through his first two games to move into eighth place in team history (84)... Both of them are chasing Hunter Boyd, who struck out 110 hitters in the 2017-18 seasons...

Transactions: The AppleSox will look a little different from the team that returned from a six-game road trip on Sunday... Garrett Ahern, Max Clark, Jonathan Fitz, Hunter Friedberg, JD Goodcase, Jayden Holloway, Tristan LaMaison, Andrew Monson and Cannon Peery all joined the AppleSox in time for this series against Bellingham... Ten-game contract players Ethan Buckley, Harrison Clark, Damon Gaither, Alex Greb, Ethan Hubbell, Jack Johnson and Drew Welk have all been released...
