Fish Sticks Top AppleSox Monday Night

The Wenatchee AppleSox couldn’t complete a late comeback and fell to the DubSea Fish Sticks, 5-4, in a non-league game on Monday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

Jayden Holloway led the way at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort that included an RBI single in the fourth inning. Wenatchee clawed back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game but could not claw back a second time.

DubSea struck for two runs in the third on a two-run double and picked up another run in the fourth before Wenatchee chipped away against a familiar face. The AppleSox next three runs came against former pitcher Blake Reece, first with Holloway’s RBI knock before a two-spot in the fifth. Two errors brought home the first run and then Jonathan Fitz singled the opposite way to tie the game.

The Fish Sticks took the lead again in the seventh and added an insurance run in the eighth that proved to be the difference after Wenatchee got one in the bottom of that inning and stranded the tying run at third.

Wenatchee will look to extend its five-game winning streak in league play on Tuesday night as it opens up a three-game series against the Yakima Valley Pippins at 6:35 at Yakima County Stadium. The AppleSox return home on Friday for the start of a six-game homestand and tickets can be punched at applesox.com/schedule
